The A21 Walk For Freedom takes place in Plett on the 17th of October 2015.

The Walk is a collective effort to heighten awareness of modern-day slavery and raise funds to take us one step closer to ending human trafficking in our lifetime. The Walk For Freedom will make its way around the world on October 17, shedding light on the 27 million men, women and children who are still in bondage. When we join forces in one single day, we not only catch the attention of our cities, but we combine our efforts to have a global impact.

About the walk

• The Walk will be 2,5 km and starts at the N2 bridge – parking area outside Castleton. We will proceed down Marine Way, Turn into the Main Road, Continue down until the Whale Tail Circle, and back up the Main Road to end at the area next to LM.
• It is a silent, single file march.
• Everyone wears all black, or an A21 Walk For Freedom T-shirt with black pants or a skirt.
• T-shirts are available for R80 from Plett A21 host, Lindy.
• There is no age limit, so prams or walking sticks are welcome. As well as wheelchairs if you are able or have someone assisting you.

Remember to bring a camera / camera phone. Using Social Media to make the Walk go viral all around the world is how we reached millions last year, and we want to see more this year. Use #WalkForFreedom when you post on instagram, twitter or facebook and follow A21′s accounts as well for updates and to share your photos.

The Bitou Municipality Mayor’s office is co-hosting and Special Programs, Youth Development, Social Development and Kwanokuthula SAPS are all supporting this extremely important awareness campaign.
