Bitou Municipality’s Public Safety Manager Mr Andile Sakati will conduct his Annual Chief’s Inspection of the division which encompasses of Fire & Rescue, Disaster Management, Traffic Services and Law Enforcement & Security. The inspection will serve as an assessment in preparation for the upcoming festive season and will take place on Monday 13 November 2017
Public Safety has the function of ensuring a safe and secure environment to the Greater Plettenberg Bay. As enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, S152(1(d)) Local Government should promote safe and healthy environment to all communities
The purpose of the Chief’s Inspection is to determine the capacity, condition and readiness of the said division to fulfil its primary mandate. Another objective of the day will be to promote a safe working environment by conducting a vigorous assessment on personal protective equipment, which is necessary for officials to duly perform their daily duties
The event will be hosted by the Manager Public Safety, Mr Andile Sakati with one of the highlights of the Annual Chief’s Inspection is the drill exercise (Squad Drill), performed by a platoons.
The Executive Mayor Cllr Peter Lobese with other Councillors and the Municipal Manager Thabo Ndlovu will be present to observe the Chief’s Inspection
