The Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) recently publish information on social media and other platforms, of a rape and murder which occurred over the weekend at Schoongezigt country estate.
The only leads available were the very blurry images captured by surveillance cameras as the suspect left the estate, on Monday morning, after his horrendous deeds.
Bitou Law Enforcement followed up on intelligence acquired by using the image and they could trace it back to a Facebook profile belonging to the suspect. The new images obtained from the Facebook profile was circulated amongst the various security agencies and it was confirmed that it was a positive match with original surveillance footage obtained.
Thandikaya Gqabi & Masiza Mbutyu, the two Law Enforcement Officers who apprehended the suspect, worked tirelessly to gather evidence for the tracing of the suspect whereabouts. The two Law Enforcement Officers cornered the suspect and called for backup from the Kwa-Nokuthula - SAPS and PBCPA and the successful arrest was affected before 13h00 on Tuesday, 30th January 2018.
