The Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Sandiso Gcabayi has congratulated small business owners who have received financial assistance from the municipality.
Part of Bitou Municipality’s efforts to boost economic activity and growth in Plettenberg Bay is to constantly give support to SMME’S. Bitou Municipality’s Local Economic Development department receives quite a substantial amount of business proposals from local entrepreneurs looking for assistance.
The assistance is offered through various ways; the Nedbank Incubator Programme, Community Development Fund, and also with the assistance and support of the Bitou Municipality’s tourism partner, Plett Tourism. These are but some of the measures applied to assist SMME’s and entrepreneurs.
Bitou Municipality also has private-public partnerships with already established businesses that are willing to come on board and assist in the efforts of job creation. These initiatives include training and skills development in different sectors, like the Kurland Mushroom Project, where the Municipality has partnered with Kurland Brick to bring this project back to life.
Another private-public partnership is with Robberg Quarry where Robberg is involved with the upgrade of the Kranshoek Community Hall.
During a meet and greet that took place in the Bitou Municipality’s council chambers on 16 September 2021, with the Acting Mayor - these beneficiaries had the chance to thank Bitou Municipality and the mandate of the council to create opportunities for small and micro-businesses.
The Acting Mayor took the time to acknowledge their initiatives, thanking partners that are working with the municipality and reiterated that the municipality will continue to support and upskill those who show interest and apply to the programmes and projects the municipality has to offer.Last published 08 October 2021
