Bitou Public Safety instituted a Special Operation in their plight to clamp down the illegalities concerning passenger-carrying vehicles.
Bitou Traffic Services, Provincial Traffic, Law Enforcement and the South African Police Service joined forces in by having sporadic checkpoints within the Bitou communities. This operation commenced at 06h00 through to 18h00 on Wednesday 13 September 2017.
The following statistics resulted from this special operation which focused on public transport operators:
One hundred and fifty seven (157) vehicles were stopped and twenty six (26) fines were issued.
To sum up the day’s work by the Bitou Traffic Services, eight hundred and twenty nine (829) vehicles were stopped at the various check points a total of seventy five (75) fines were issued with a total value of Rand 48 400.00
