The funds were raised during the Mayoral Golf day hosted by the Executive Mayor‘s Office and the annual event was held specifically for the purpose of empowering youth.
During the event funds were raised and donations made towards the Education Fund. According to the Manager in the Mayor’s Office, Mr Siphiwe Dladla, everyone who applied for a bursary has been accepted.
The Executive Mayor thanked every individual and business that contributed and said it is one of the most valuable ways to give back to the leaders of the future, the youth of today.
The Mayor congratulated each and every student and emphasized that it was a privilege to meet the candidates personally and he further said that “Education is the only opportunity that can change your lives for the better. You have worked very hard to be where you are today. As you go to university or the tertiary institution of your choice, it is important not to forget the reason you are here. ”
