FIRST 10 HOUSES HANDED OVER TO BITOU RESIDENTS

10 houses handed over in Bitou

Today, jubilance, celebrations and gratitude was written on the faces of the people of Bitou (16 April 2014) when the Western Cape Human Settlements MEC: Bonginkosi Madikezela, Bitou Deputy Executive Mayor: Cllr Romeo Koeberg and Bitou Speaker: Cllr Annelise Olivier, handed over new houses to 10 beneficiaries.

Hereafter batches of houses, pending on completion, will be delivered to beneficiaries as part of a combined project consisting of 584 units.

The housing hand-over delegation accompanying the Human Settlements MEC: Bonginkosi Madikizela and Bitou Deputy Executive Mayor: Romeo Koeberg was Bitou Speaker: Annelise Olivier, Head of Department: Community Services: Monde Stratu, Cllr. Monica Seyisi (Ward3), Cllr. Phaki Mbali (Ward5) and Cllr. Sandiso Gcabayi (Ward6), all attesting to intensify service delivery projects and their implementation.

The Bossiesgif/Pinetrees Housing Project was undertaken to accommodate residents from the informal settlements of Pinetrees/Bossiesgif/Transit Camp.

“Thank you Bitou Municipality! I now have a quality house. I can now enjoy my first winter in a place that I can call my home,” said one elated housing beneficiary.

Human Settlements MEC: Madikizela called on the Municipality to continue with the “good work” that it is doing. During the ceremony questions was raised by residents on which the MEC confirmed he will answer on at a follow-up visit to Bitou.

The Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr, Romeo Koeberg called on the residents of Bossiesgif/Pinetrees and KwaNokuthula to take good care of their new homes.

Bitou made and kept their commitment of providing quality housing. Now it is up to the beneficiaries to take care of these houses. These are only a few of the houses which Bitou will be handing over; Bitou Municipality is committed to intensify their efforts to bring about change in people’s lives.
