TO OUR: FIRST TIME ID APPLICANTS

In an effort to continuously safeguard the identity and status of citizens, the Department of Home Affairs has embarked on a process of introducing a Smart ID Card to the citizenry.

It gives us great pleasure to invite your learners to apply for a Smart ID Card at Home Affairs office in George during the month of February 2020 between 16h00 until 18h30.

FIRST ISSUED: When you apply for the Smart ID Card the following will be required                 

• 16 year old AND older must bring along their birth certificates or certified copy not older than 3 months.
• One of the parents need to be present with his/her ID
• If parents deceased, bring along death certificate and informant/ guardian with an ID letter from Social worker or Court Order for children in foster care.
• No affidavits are accepted
• Your latest contact details (cellular telephone numbers only), this will enable the DHA to send an alert when your card is ready for collection
• The application procedure will involve capturing your details on-line, digitally taking your photograph and fingerprints which will be recorded for the production of your Smart ID Card.
