The Annual Bursary Award Ceremony hosted by the Executive Mayor of Bitou, Cllr Memory Booysen was a great success, this year it also included Grants-in-Aid allocations. The bulk of the money allocated on the evening was for 62 local students who will engage in studies during the 2015 calendar year amounting to the sum of R 341 000.00 and 12 Non-Governmental Organisations amounting to R 295 000.00.
The Manager in the Office of the Executive Mayor, Mr Siphiwe Dladla thoroughly explained the legislated process which led up to the evening, which kicked off in August 2014 for Grants-In-Aid and October 2014 for bursaries.
The Executive Mayor Cllr Memory Booysen, was very emotional when delivering his keynote address and emphasized that “as these bursary awards are done tonight, we will follow-up on the progress of your studies during the year because we want to see all of you here again next year, as you progressed to your next year of study.”
