CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE APPOINTMENT AS MEMBER/ VALUER OF VALUATION APPEAL BOARD

NOTICE NO: 72/2020

Interested and qualified persons are invited to apply for Professional Valuer of the Valuation Appeal Board for Bitou Municipality for the current term of office until 30 September 2021 in terms of section 58 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, 2004 (Act 6 of 2004) (“the MPRA”). All members of a Valuation Appeal Board are appointed by the Provincial Minister of Local Government (“the MEC”) in terms of section 58(2) of the MPRA.

REQUIREMENTS

Other Member: Must be registered as a professional valuer in terms of the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000 (Act No.47 of 2000) with sufficient knowledge of/or experience in the valuation of property.

FUNCTIONS OF THE VALUATION APPEAL BOARD

  • To hear and decide appeals against the decisions of a municipal valuer concerning objections to matters reflected in, or omitted from, the valuation roll of Bitou Municipality;
  • To review decisions of a municipal valuer in terms of section 52 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004; and
  • All other functions/duties as provided for in the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates.

REMUNERATION

  • Remuneration payable to members of the Valuation Appeal Board will be determined annually in accordance with the remuneration tariffs approved by the Minister of Finance for non-official members of Commissions of Inquiry in terms of 20.2.2 of the National Treasury Regulations as follows:
  • A member other than a chairperson: R3,888.00 per day/ R486.00 per hour; and
  • Travel allowances payable will be determined with reference to applicable national tariffs of the Department of Transport Act 6 of 2004.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Eligible persons who wish to be considered for appointment to serve as a member/valuer of the Valuation Appeal Board are invited to submit a written application that clearly indicates the position applied for. The application must contain an abridged CV detailing the applicant’s knowledge, experience and suitability for the position, certified copies of the applicant’s qualifications and registration. An applicant must also certify that he/she, in terms of section 59 of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004 is fit to be considered as a candidate.
