REQUEST FOR SMME ENTITIES TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING CERTIFIED AND VALID DOCUMENTS FOR PRE-QUALIFICATION: PRE-TENDER TRAINING.

The ACS/Tjeka joint venture has been awarded a project for the development of SMME enterprises in the construction industry.

The aim of the project is to upskill SMME enterprises in business and tendering skills, to enhance their knowledge when tendering for any construction projects in the future.

The training will be for a period of 15 days per trainee. The exact duration will be decided once the applications have been screened.

SMME enterprises must take note that the training is offered free of charge, but the SMME must sacrifice their time as NO stipend will be payable, but lunch will be provided.

Interested companies are encouraged to apply for the training programme by submitting the following certified and valid documents for pre-qualification:

  • Registration with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC),
  • CIDB registration – Grades 1 to 4 CE (Note: active membership),
  • SARS tax compliance,
  • Registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) of National Treasury.
  • Proof of highest school qualification (Certificate or letter on schools’ letterhead
  • Proof of residence of the owner of the business.
  • Letter of commitment to attend the training for the 15-day period.

The project is for the training in all Provinces of South Africa, but priority consideration will be given to the following Municipality as a matter of urgency:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: National Diploma in Civil Engineering ● 5 years or more experience in managing projects in the build environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: ● Experience in Project Management of Building and Engineering Construction projects ● Ability to deal with and resolve conflict, work under pressure and meet deadlines ● Good written and oral communication, report-writing, presentation and facilitation skills ● Ability to implement work programmes ● Advanced computer user (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint) ● Good knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD drawing software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer (or similar engineering design software), ArcView (GIS) ● Must have a valid driver’s license and own transport● Working knowledge of local government prescripts as it relates to infrastructure project management. ●Registration with SACPCMP as a Candidate Professional Construction Project Manager (PrCPM) could serve as an advantage.

 

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Provide project management services regarding the planning, design, procurement, construction and handover phases of Capital and Planned Maintenance projects related to Construction Projects in the built environment  ● Manage the effective and efficient implementation of projects ● Manage and coordinate the activities of external service providers to ensure the successful implementation of the projects ● Manage and administer the cost planning, procuring and implementation of Capital and planned maintenance projects ● Manage the procurement process and ensure that all procurement documentation comply with the industry standards for uniformity, applicable regulations, contractual conditions and specifications ● Manage the human resources and project team involved with the project● Manage and coordinate the handover of the project to the relevant portfolio manager or user department for operational purposes Review and comment on building plan applications ● Attends to procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality ● Keeps abreast of current developments, legislative changes, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession. ● Manage the Financial resources allocated to projects effectively ●Manage any disputes arising from a project as well as the process.

An invitation is hereby made for Women in Tourism members to submit an application for participation in a WiT Business Management and Mentorship training programme for a period of up to 18 months. Enterprises eligible for enrolment should meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 51% South African woman-owned.
  • EME or QSE
  • Must be in operation for at least one year.
  • Willingness to learn and openness to adapt and succeed.
  • Have 2 years of entrepreneurial and managerial experience.
  • Willingness to sign a cooperation/commitment contract with the training service provider.
  • Willingness to give in time to all engagements related to the training.
  • Businesses owned by youth, women and people living with disabilities preferable.
  • Businesses in travel, tourism and hospitality are a priority.
  • Businesses offering authentic and innovative tourism experiences.
  • Business must be in good standing in terms of tax legislation - tax compliance.

The three-day Business Management Training covers:
