Due to changes in rainfall within the area, together with the dry and windy conditions normally experienced, it is deemed favourable for the spread and development of run-away fires.
It is in the interest of public safety that fireworks and lanterns be prohibited. Only on approved application and clearance from relevant departments will it be permitted in accordance with special conditions to the time and location of approval granted.
The Emergency Services and Public Safety Sections can focus on the priorities of motor vehicle incidents/accidents, medical emergencies experienced and structural fires rather than thin out resources to cover negligent fires caused by fireworks and/or sky lanterns.
Thank you for your cooperation – Have a Safe and Blessed season in Bitou
