EPWP CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT

ADVANCED MENTORING PROGRAMME

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL CIDB LEVEL 3 – 5 GB/CE CONTRACTORS:

The Department of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape, as part of the EPWP Contractor Development Programme will now recruit candidates/contractors for a 20 month Mentoring and Training Programme, scheduled to start in November 2022.

The programme will consist of 4 weeks/months Accredited Training and a 16 month Mentoring Programme

The Four Weeks Accredited Training will focus on the following modules:

  • Module 1: Construction Project Management and Planning
  • Module 2: Human Resource Management
  • Module 3: Financial Planning and Budget Management
  • Module 4: Microsoft Excell Skills
  • Module 5: Legal Aspects

The training will be conducted over four months. This will be 4 block weeks of 5 days every month, starting November 2022 and end in February 2023.

After successful completion of the training, the contractor will be assigned a Mentor, who are a Qualified and Experienced Professional in the Built Environment. The task of the Mentor will be to help the Contractor incorporate everything they have learned into their business.

Please note:
During the 4 weeks of training, the contractor must be willing to spend one week per month away from their family or business. The training is compulsory and only upon successful completion of the training and regular attendance will the contractor be assigned a Mentor.

The training will be held at one central venue and the Department will provide accommodation for those who are chosen for the programme. We will confirm the details of the venue and final schedule to qualified contractors in due time.
Contractors must arrange their own transport to and from the venue. If the contractor does not wish to make use of the accommodation and catering provided, then they must find their own at their own cost.

Application Process:
To apply for the Contract Development 4 week/month Training and 16 Month Mentoring programme you must have the following:

  • A Registered Construction Business
  • An active Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Level 3-5 registration.
  • If you are a CIDB Level 2 or lower Contractor, then you must be able to provide proof that you are in the process to upgrade your status to 3 and above.
  • You must have not attended a similar programme with this Department and or any other Department in Government
  • You must be based in the Western Cape
  • You must have a valid South African Identity Document
  • You must be engaging in a construction project or at least completing Tenders for future projects

MANAGEMENT OF CENTRAL BEACH PUBLIC LAUNCH SITE

NOTICE NUMBER: 207 /2022

Notice is hereby given of Bitou Municipality’s Draft Operational Plan for the Management of the Central Beach Public Launch Site.  The National Environmental Management:  Integrated Coastal Management Act, 2008 (Act No. 24 of 2008) and the associated Management of Public Launch Sites in the Coastal Zone Regulations GN. R497, 27 June 2014 are applicable to the listing and management of Public Launch Sites within South Africa.

The Central Beach Public Launch Site (previously referred to as the Plettenberg Bay Ski Boat Club) was listed by MEC:  Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, as an official Public Launch Site and Bitou Municipality identified as the responsible Management Body, in the Provincial Gazette 7410, Provincial Notice 193/2015, on 26 June 2015.

The Public Launch Site Regulations 2(2) specifies that a Public Launch Site is to be managed in terms of an Operational Plan which must:

(a)      Determine the maximum daily, monthly or annual limit for the number of vehicles used to launch a vessel or vessels from each public launch site;
(b)      Determine the type or class of vessel which may be launched from a particular public launch site;
(c)      Impose any prohibitions or conditions relating to the use or management of a public launch site in general or, for any specific launch site; or
(d)      Regulate any other activity relating to the management of a public launch site.

This document will serve as the Operational Plan required in terms of Section 2(2) of the Public Launch Site Regulations (2014).  The Draft Operational Plan for the Management of Central Beach Public Launch Site can be accessed on the Municipal website at www.bitou.gov.za/central-beach-public-launch-site

Inputs, comments, or objections, with reasons therefore, may be lodged in writing with the Environmental Management Officer, Ms. Anjé Taljaard, at ataljaard@plett.gov.za, or be hand-delivered at Office 50, second floor, Melville’s Corner, 3 Kloof Street, Plettenberg Bay, 6600, within 30 days of this notice.
