Various food and drinks stalls will be open on the day and the first 300 people to arrive will receive a free t-shirt.
NB: Transport will be provided from all the respective areas to the Crags and will be stationed at Municipal housing offices as from 08h00.
Bitou Municipality, will be celebrating the late Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela’s birthday on 18 July 2014. Bitou personnel decided to act on the idea that each person has the power to change the world by giving 67 minutes of their time to roll up sleeves, help and give hope to those who are in hopeless situations from the local selected NGO’s.
Contributions will be made towards food security, by turning illegal dumpsites into vegetable gardens for the elderly, Painting and Maintenance of selected NGO buildings especially those in need, cleaning and caring for the elderly, needy and vulnerable, handing out some goodies to the orphans, as well as sandwiches, juices and some fruits to the patients.
These activities will take place across Bitou in various areas such as Kwa-Nokuthula, New horizons etc.

Waste Minimization Roadshow
Eden District Municipality, in collaboration with local municipalities: Bitou, George, Hessequa, Knysna, Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, will be hosting a Waste Minimisation Roadshow throughout the Eden region as part of the Waste Minimisation Public Awareness and Education Campaign.
The objective of the Waste Minimisation Roadshow is to create public awareness regarding waste management and waste minimisation e.g. at source recycling and home composting. The Roadshow is also a marketing opportunity for the waste management industry.
The Roadshow will start in Bitou Municipality and end in Mossel Bay Municipality. An official opening and closing will take place at the respective towns.

Big crowds are expected for the Heritage Day celebrations this year, which will kick off on 24th September at KwaNokuthula Sports Stadium, 09h00 am 16h00 pm, with local artists scheduled to perform while local entrepreneurs will showcase and food tasting of traditional dishes.

The scholars will build floats and parade them through our beautiful town. Not only do we wish to raise awareness amongst our children but also the broader community / all users of our roads.
Schools will gather at the Plett Police Station as from 08h00 in order for the parade to start at 09h00 through Plett Main Street.

BITOU Municipality in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Government, Eden District municipality and the B municipalities in the district are migrating to a centralized supplier database for all suppliers. The Eden district is to serve as a pilot district within the province and the goal is that all municipalities will use the centralized database as from 01 July 2015. The Western Cape Provincial Government has successfully implemented the use of its database to all provincial departments.
The use of a centralized supplier database will promote and support the effective implementation of each municipal Preferential Procurement Policy as determined in the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) No. 5 of 2000, the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, (B-BBEE Act), No 53 of 2003, and the Regulations pertaining to these Acts. The purpose of the database is to facilitate uniformity, develop best practice guidelines, inform sound financial governance, promote and maximize service delivery.
The Western Cape Supplier Data Base provides the following benefits:
All existing and prospective suppliers of municipal goods and services are therefore invited to attend a SUPPLIER OPEN DAY where they will be assisted to register on the supplier database. Representatives of SARS, CIDB, NHBRC, DTI and ARIBA will also be in attendance to assist with any related matters.
