QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Diploma in Labour Relations (NQF6) or equivalent ● 2 years’ experience dealing with labour relations in a Local Government environment

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS   Valid driver’s license ● Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) ● Sound conflict-handling and communication skills● Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills ● Driving force and enthusiasm ● Good Communication Skills an ability to build positive relationships ● Have passion for working with people and be able to work under pressure. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills ● must be able to communicate in at least two of the three official provincial languages of the Western Cape (read, write and speak) ● Effective organizing and management skills ● Ability to work after normal office hours, during emergencies and planned overtime.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform duties associated with the application and interpretation of policies, agreements and specific procedures relating to a sound labour relations climate in the work place ● Coordinate disciplinary, grievance and incapacity processes (including performing investigations, act as an initiator or chairperson in disciplinary cases) ● Provide a general advisory service to the employer, employees and trade unions ● Attend to administrative requirements with respect to the preparation, circulation and maintenance of reports, correspondences and notifications ● Control and maintain the grievances and disciplinary registers ● Performing general administrative tasks within the Labour Relations Section (including LLF Forum and subcommittee) meeting management and other labour relations meetings ● Attend to procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality ● Keep abreast of developments, emerging trends and relevant legal administrative procedural applications in the profession.
