Bitou Municipality is inviting applications for the following vacancy from suitably qualified professionals

POSITION: LABOUR RELATIONS OFFICER

DIRECTORATE CORPORATE SERVICES

BRANCH: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

SECTION LABOUR RELATIONS

BASIC SALARY: R 246 977.40 – R 320 600.42 (T11) + MUNICIPAL BENEFITS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:● Tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management/Labour /Industrial Relations or Equivalent NQF6 ● 3 years’ experience dealing with Labour Relations and/or Unionized environment in Local Government Sector.

ADDED ADVANTAGE: Degree in Labour Law (NQF 7) ● 4 years’ experience.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: Valid Driving License ● Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) ● Must be able to communicate in at least two of the official provincial languages (read, write and speak). ● Sound conflict-handling and communication skills;● Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills ● Visionary Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities, supported by leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence other people ● Good Communication Skills an ability to build positive relationships. ● Have passion for working with people and be able to work under pressure. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills● High level of responsibility.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:● Coordinating disciplinary, grievance and incapacity processes● Initiate and chair of disciplinary and incapacity enquiries ● Advise line management on all labour relations and EAP matters ● Performing general administrative tasks within the Human Resources Section● Perform all administrative tasks relating to the Local Labour Forum and its sub-committees ● Representing the Municipality in disputes at the SALGBC ●Advise management and staff on grievance and disciplinary processes ● Ensure that the Municipality complies with Labour Legislation ● Liaise with management, employees and unions to keep them informed regarding Labour Relations matters ● Attends to procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality ● Keep abreast of developments, legislative changes and emerging trends in the profession.
