QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ● National Diploma in Disaster Management or equivalent NQF Level 5● 2 years relevant experience
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: ● Code B Driver’s license ● Computer literacy (Office Applications) ● Proficiency in at least 2 of the official three languages of the Western Cape (read, write and speak)● Good human relations, interpersonal and communication skills ● Ability to give attention to detail ● High level of responsibility ● Required to be on standby and work in all weather conditions ● Good sight, hearing and speech ability with the ability to perform manual operations ●Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Render procedural applications, interventions and activities related to Disaster Management ● Attends to the reviewing, updating and implementation of the Disaster Management Plan ● Conducts needs and risk analysis to enable accurate determination of the vulnerability and/or preparedness of the Municipality in disaster situations ● Participate and attending to the provision of relief, recovery and rehabilitation sequences● Attends to procedural applications associated with the identifying and assessing the severity of potential risk factors ● Provide education and training to the public in order to create awareness of potential risks and coping strategies. ● Attends to procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality ● Keep abreast of developments, legislative changes, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession
