The Bitou Municipality once again hosted the annual Bitou Golden Games, an event aimed at promoting active aging, which has a positive impact on the health of senior citizens and disable people. These games are not limited to Bitou alone, as winners progress to regional, provincial, and even national levels, where local senior residents have consistently represented the area.
Today, senior residents from various communities in Plettenberg Bay gathered at the Plett Central Field to participate. The winners of this event will qualify to compete in the Eden Games, the regional level, scheduled for October 24.
In the absence of the Bitou Executive Mayor, Councillor Renecio Willemse gave the welcoming address. She encouraged the elderly to engage more with young people, who are eager to help and assist in any way they can. She also urged them to stay active and maintain the joy they exhibited at the event. Hospice Plett, a regular stakeholder in this program, was present as usual, providing support to the participants.
