Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 29 A of Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, No 117 of 1998 (Act 117 of 1998) that the Special Council meeting of the Bitou Municipality is scheduled for Friday, 21 November 2025 at 11h00 in the Bitou Council Chambers.

Please note that due to the inability of all stakeholders to comply with the statutory and legislative requirements of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act, Act 103 of 1977 during the festive season and Council recess, No Building Control related applications will be processed during the period 15 December 2025 until 12 January 2026. 

Building plan applications may be submitted on the understanding that they will only be processed as from 12 January 2026.

Bitou Municipality hereby invites local informal traders to attend a two-day pre-seasonal
readiness workshop
The festive season attracts many tourists and visitors into Plett and as such there will be
an increasing demand for local goods and services.

Bitou Municipality herewith invites traders to apply for Informal Trading permits for the
period 10 November 2025 to 30 April 2026, for scheduled sites along the coastal areas.

Notice is here-by given of scheduled Ward based IDP Public Meeting in terms of Chapter 4 of the Systems Act.

 All community members are invited to attend the IDP Ward meetings as scheduled.

The Stage 2 drought restrictions will be implemented with effect from Monday 1 September 2025, in line with Bitou Municipality’s Drought Management Policy to manage and prevent the increased risk in the possibility of water shortages. This intervention is triggered mainly due to the level of the Roodefontein dam dropping to below the 65% level as a result of below average rainfall received in the region.

Dear Residents of Kwanokuthula 

It has come to our attention that some households in the vicinity of the old Kwanokuthula cemetery have been engaging in disrespectful behavior by dumping waste and littering around or within the burial grounds. This behavior compromises the dignity and sanctity of the cemetery, a place meant for honoring our loved ones who have passed. 

The 2025/2026 Draft Performance Agreements for the Municipal Manager and Senior Managers directly accountable to the Municipal Manager are made public in terms of Section 57 (1) (b) of the Municipal Systems Act.
