UPGRADE OF RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF WATER
BITOU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
The Level one (Moderate) drought restrictions currently implemented will be upgraded to Level Two with effect from 3 April 2023, in line with Bitou Municipality’s Drought Management Policy to manage and prevent the increased risk in the possibility of water shortages. This intervention is triggered mainly due to the level of the Roodefontein dam dropping to below 66% and below average rainfall experienced and expected in the region.

Water and Sanitation Services
The Water and Sanitation services is mainly responsible for the continual supply of good healthy water to all the Bitou residents and to ensure that water quality complies with the South African National Standards (SANS 241). The department is also responsible for the control of pollution in the environment and our water resources.
Transport, Roads and Stormwater
The roads section is primarily responsible for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Municipal paved and unpaved roads within the Bitou area.
